Nigel webster photography

I take photographs of the natural world, landscapes and seascapes - often in abstract form - using a large format camera and black and white film. I have several wooden field cameras which range in size according to film used,  4x5, 5x7, 8x10, 7x17 - all measured in inches.

Negatives are processed by hand and then printed using conventional darkroom techniques. My pictures are all printed on double weight fibre based paper, fixed twice and selenium toned for extra permanence - to so called museum archival standards. I use a 4x5 De Vere enlarger and the larger negatives are contact printed with the negative in direct contact with the silver gelatin paper. I also use platinum / palladium contact printing and occasionally (when it is available) albumen silver printing out paper with the negative and paper combination being exposed to either a UV light source or (when it is available) sunlight. The photographs are then mounted onto conservation quality mounting board and covered with a cut out mount or matt.

The photographs are for sale in limited editions of 15. If you wish to purchase one please:
